Coming of Age Sex Story: Birgit Adams remains a force to be reckoned with. The lessons she learns, and how she deals with them, are at the heart of this book. Beyond Birgit, there is the usual full cast of characters, but, no matter how you cut it, this is a book centered on the Empress of the Universe — it wasn't titled The Pumpkin Patch for nothing! This is a continuation of the third A Well-Lived Life Series.
This is the continuation of the story told in AWLL 1, AWLL 2, and the first four books in AWLL 3. If you haven't read those, you'll have serious difficulty following the story. I strongly encourage you to read all that has come before this book!

This series has two companion series, Good Medicine and Climbing the Ladder. There are several 'crossover' characters. Generally speaking, you'll get more out of the AWLL series if you follow this suggested reading order:

As with the earlier books, there is a lot of dialogue and introspection. There is also a decent amount of sex, some of it explicit and juicy, and some of it agonizingly erotic in its simplicity.
An important thing to be aware of — Steve is no longer the sole narrator. Some parts are narrated by Steve, some by the kids. A narrator change is signified by a horizontal rule and the name of the new narrator.
